demonstrates
that there can be a balance between creating new homes
for families while improving our environment.
Hopefully
the Wetlands of the West will become a sanctuary for the
growling grass frog and through this design we can give an
endangered species a future.
I
am passionate about reducing storm water run-off into
Port
Phillip Bay
and ensuring our water ways are kept clean.
By
incorporating wetlands into developments we are stopping storm
water flowing directly into the Bay.
I
see this is as a major benefit as the wetlands enhance not
only the quality of life for those living directly next to
them but the wider community also gains from a cleaner marine
environment."
Executive
Director of UDIA (VIC) Tony
De Domenico
said "Living with the Wetlands provided a major opportunity
for the industry to correct some of the mis-information which
is often promoted about the industry in relation to the
environment".
The
'Living with the Wetlands' project will be expanded with
launches planned for the north, south east, east and regional
Victoria.
