Urban
Development Industry Backs New Suburb at Casey
Sunday 6
November 2011: The
Urban Development Industry of Australia (Victoria) today
welcomed the approval of a new 6000 lot residential suburb at
Clyde North within the City of Casey.
Executive
Director of UDIA (VIC), Tony De
Domenico said the announcement was timely
and provided the industry with a certainty for forward
planning in a difficult period.
"This
announcement is a major boost of confidence in forward
employment as behind every one of the 6000 homes stands many
jobs, opportunities for apprentices in all trades and a market
for building suppliers."
Mr De
Domenico said, the development industry, would under the
program released through an approved a Developer Contributions
Plan, provide $117 million for local community
infrastructure.
"These
funds, generated by the industry, will help finance schools,
kindergartens, maternal and child health centres, parks,
roads, transport and sports grounds".
"The
release of the 432 hectare site, plus 137 hectares of open
space to include a network of 15 parks and a conservation
reserve to complement Cardinia Creek, reflects the agenda of
the UDIA EnviroDevelopment certification program to benchmark
environmental excellence."
Mr De
Demenico said, "the UDIA is pleased to see the streamlining in
planning process in a co-operative manner with the City of
Casey to cut years off the planning
process to assist in housing affordability, one of the major
issues facing the community."
The
development industry of Victoria is
responsible for 12% of Victoria's
economic development and directly employs 100,000.
